IIT Madras to host national workshop on metabolic modelling
IIT Madras will host a three-day national workshop titled ‘Metabolic Modelling – From Pathways to Predictions’ from September 16 to 18, 2026. Organized by the Wadhwani School of Data Science and AI (WSAI) and the Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE), the event focuses on systems biology, metabolic engineering, and constraint-based modelling.
The in-person workshop will feature a combination of classroom lectures and hands-on training sessions. Participants will utilize tools such as ‘COBRApy’ to analyze and interpret metabolic models of single organisms and microbial communities. The program is designed for final-year undergraduate and postgraduate students, researchers, faculty, and industry professionals with an interest in biology and metabolic modelling.
The workshop is convened by Professor Karthik Raman of WSAI and Dr. Meiyappan Lakshmanan from the Department of Biotechnology at IIT Madras. Sessions will be led by faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and PhD students from the Centre for Integrative Biology and Systems Medicine (IBSE) and WSAI. The application deadline is September 4, 2026.
