Işık Dağı forest fire brought under control near Çankırı and Ankara
A forest fire occurring in the wooded area of Işık Dağı, located on the border between the Çerkeş district of Çankırı and the Kızılcahamam district of Ankara, has been brought under control. The cause of the fire remains undetermined.
The firefighting operation involved a coordinated effort from multiple agencies, including the Forest Management Directorate, AFAD, gendarmerie, and local fire departments. A total of 60 personnel, 14 vehicles, one helicopter, and one drone were deployed to the site.
Çerkeş Mayor Hasan Sopacı reported that while the fire posed a threat to the Çerkeş region during the afternoon, it has been contained. Cooling operations are currently underway to prevent reignition, a task complicated by shifting wind directions. Authorities indicated that cooling efforts will continue until the area is declared safe.
