IK Multimedia announces Sinphonica virtual orchestra

IK Multimedia has announced Sinphonica, a new family of Italian orchestral instruments designed for modern composers. The inaugural release, Sinphonica Maestosa Strings, features a 60-piece Italian string orchestra.

The library was recorded at the Officine Meccaniche Studios in Milan using a professional ensemble of Italian musicians. It includes 16 first violins, 14 second violins, 12 violas, 10 cellos, and 8 double basses. The technology aims to move beyond simple sample playback by focusing on the movement, interaction, and emotion of a live orchestra.

Key technical features include five responsive True Legato styles, over 40 articulations with up to five dynamic layers, and eight microphone perspectives utilizing the PALCO virtual stage positioning system. The platform is designed to allow composers to shape performances with high levels of realism and expression.
