IK Multimedia announces TONEX Parametric Tone Model technology

IK Multimedia has announced TONEX Parametric Tone Model technology, a new method for the digital recreation of guitar amplifiers and pedals. Unlike previous AI capture methods that provided a static sonic snapshot of a specific setting, this technology aims to recreate how original hardware responds as controls are adjusted.

The system can capture up to 10 positions per control across as many as six knobs or switches. An advanced neural network then predicts the sonic behavior between these captured settings and across various combinations. According to the company, this process goes beyond conventional mathematical interpolation by using AI-based prediction to recreate the evolving response of the captured gear.

The technology is scheduled to debut in November 2026 as a free update for all versions of TONEX Player software, including TONEX CS and TONEX Board hardware. Existing Tone Models will remain compatible, serving as defined settings, while the new parametric models will complement them by allowing users to explore the full control range of the captured device.
