Ikastolen Elkartea to host pedagogical conference on Basque immersion

The Ikastolen Elkartea will hold a pedagogical conference in Donostia on November 18 to analyze and strengthen the Basque language immersion model. The organization aims to reinvent the model to better address current sociolinguistic realities and extend language use beyond the classroom into non-formal environments.

Leaders of the association emphasized the need to identify the strengths and weaknesses of current practices to establish new strategies. The event will feature experts, including Iñaki Iurrebas from UEMA, who will discuss the relationship between education and society, and sociolinguist Kike Amonarriz, who will explore ways to promote Basque usage outside of school settings.
