IKEA announces major price cuts across Europe

IKEA has announced a large-scale strategic price reduction across Europe to address the rising cost of living and declining consumer confidence. The company is investing 1.2 billion euros to lower prices on approximately 1,500 popular items across more than 20 European countries.

Key products, including the Billy bookcase, Kallax storage units, and Bestå cabinets, are seeing average price cuts between 15% and 25%, with some individual items reduced by nearly 30%. Ingka Group CEO Juvencio Maeztu described the move as a commitment to stand with customers during economic difficulties, stating that IKEA adheres to a philosophy of lowering prices when consumers face financial storms.

Inter IKEA CEO Jakob Jankowski noted that this is a long-term commitment rather than a short-term promotion, supported by the company’s vertically integrated supply chain. In addition to the European initiative, the group has allocated 70 million euros for price reductions in the Americas and Asia. While the company acknowledges these cuts will pressure short-term profits and upcoming financial reports, the strategy aims to maintain market loyalty and consumer trust.
