IKEA introduced the REXBEGONIA cooling mattress pad, priced at €9.99, made from a breathable fabric that absorbs body moisture and promotes air flow. The pad can be placed on a mattress or pillow and, after a brief chill in the refrigerator, releases cool air for a more comfortable night without the energy consumption of air‑conditioning. It also helps protect bedding and extend mattress life.

Separately, health experts note that while night‑time fans are an inexpensive way to stay cool, they can worsen asthma, allergies, and cause dry skin, eyes or nasal congestion. Recommendations include keeping the bedroom clean, regularly dusting fan blades, directing airflow away from the sleeper, and using fans equipped with HEPA filters or ionisers. Additional cooling options such as breathable sleepwear, chilled bedding, or a cool shower before bed are also suggested.
