Ikea to launch second-hand marketplace in Germany

Ikea is expanding its second-hand marketplace to Germany, with the service scheduled to launch on October 14. The platform allows Ikea Family members to buy and sell used Ikea products directly with one another.

Listing items on the platform is free, and the system provides automated product recognition, including dimensions and price suggestions. Sellers can choose to receive payments via bank transfer or an Ikea digital credit note, which includes a 15 percent bonus to encourage reinvestment within the Ikea ecosystem.

The marketplace is already active in several European markets, including Spain, Norway, Portugal, Poland, Sweden, and Belgium. In its first six markets, the platform recorded 95,700 listings and 15 million visits as of late August.
