IKEA updates iconic FRAKTA bag with 90% recycled material
IKEA is updating its iconic FRAKTA carrier bag to incorporate at least 90% recycled material. To mark the product's 30th anniversary, the retailer is transitioning the staple item to use more sustainable inputs without altering its well-known shape, durability, or affordability.
At least 70% of the recycled content in the new bags will be sourced from discarded food packaging and plastics. The update applies to both the 36-liter and 71-liter versions of the bag. Globally, IKEA sells more than 44 million FRAKTA bags annually, with approximately 440,000 sold per year in Belgium.
