Iker Lecuona to replace Fermin Aldeguer at Malaysian MotoGP

Gresini Racing has confirmed that Iker Lecuona will substitute for Fermin Aldeguer at the upcoming Malaysian MotoGP in Sepang. Aldeguer will remain sidelined following a hand injury sustained during the Indonesian Grand Prix in Mandalika, where he fractured the base of his first metacarpal bone.

Lecuona, the 2026 World Superbike runner-up, previously filled in for Aldeguer at the Phillip Island Grand Prix in Australia. While Aldeguer recovers from surgery performed in Barcelona, Lecuona will continue to represent the team during the final stages of the Asian tour.

The Malaysian Grand Prix follows a period of significant injury concerns across the MotoGP grid. While riders such as Joan Mir, Luca Marini, and Raul Fernandez are expected to return for the Sepang round, the fitness of title contender Jorge Martin remains uncertain following a radius fracture sustained during the Sprint race in Australia.
