Ikogosi Road Race returns to Ekiti State on October 31

The 2026 Ikogosi Road Race is scheduled to take place on October 31, featuring a 17.5-kilometre route from Ilawe-Ekiti to the Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort. Organized by the Ikogosi Marathon Initiative in collaboration with the Ekiti State Government, the event expects to attract approximately 8,000 participants from Nigeria and abroad.

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has reaffirmed his administration’s support for the marathon, citing its role in youth empowerment, grassroots sports development, and sports tourism. The event aims to stimulate the local economy by benefiting sectors such as hospitality, transport, and small-scale trade through an influx of visitors.

A total prize purse of ₦30 million will be distributed among elite athletes and eligible indigenous runners from Ekiti State. Organizers are working to align the event with international standards, focusing on athlete welfare, safety, and infrastructure to showcase the state’s natural attractions and culture.
