Ilê Aiyê opens applications for Deusa do Ébano 2027 contest

The Afro-bloc Ilê Aiyê has opened registrations for the ‘Deusa do Ébano 2027’ contest, a traditional competition celebrating Black beauty, identity, and strength. Black women from across Brazil, aged 18 to 35, are eligible to apply through the official Ilê Aiyê website until December 5.

The selection process will involve three stages. The 15 finalists are expected to be announced on December 12, with the final winner crowned during the 46th ‘Noite da Beleza Negra’ (Black Beauty Night), scheduled for January 2027 in Salvador.

The event is organized by the Associação Cultural Bloco Carnavalesco Ilê Aiyê in conjunction with the Ministry of Culture. It receives support from various regional cultural entities and is sponsored by Grupo Belov and Petrobras through federal cultural incentive laws.
