Ilaria Salis bank account seized over legal dispute
Ilaria Salis, an MEP for Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra, has had a bank account seized following a legal dispute with two former parliamentary collaborators, Valentina Dadda and François Gelmetti.
The seizure, involving approximately 7,000 euros, pertains to unpaid legal fees. This follows a first-instance court ruling that ordered Salis to pay roughly 300,000 euros in total compensation to Dadda and Gelmetti, who contested their dismissals as being without just cause. The compensation was calculated based on the earnings the collaborators would have received through the end of the parliamentary mandate.
Salis has appealed the original ruling and sought to suspend the execution of the sentence, but these requests were rejected. The bank account subject to the seizure is the same one used to receive her parliamentary indemnities. An appeal hearing regarding the primary compensation ruling is expected in the coming weeks.
