Ildikó Tóth discusses family legacy, luxury assets, and political whistleblowing

Ildikó Tóth, a prominent investor known from the television show ‘Shark Tank’ (Cápák között), has shared details regarding her family history, personal life, and business philosophy.

Tóth discussed her entrepreneurial roots, noting that her maternal grandmother operated a taxi company and gas station before World War II, while her grandfather was a civil engineer involved in constructing the Route 7 road near Lake Balaton. Although she originally aspired to be a landscape architect, she transitioned into the automotive industry at age 21 and later moved into luxury real estate development in Budapest and across Europe.

Regarding her personal life, Tóth mentioned maintaining a positive relationship with her ex-husband and his family, even going on vacations together. She also addressed her luxury collection, stating she owns over 100 designer bags but maintains a limit of not paying more than two million forints per item, viewing them partly as investments.

Tóth also clarified her motivations for providing information to politician Ákos Hadházy regarding the luxury lifestyles of individuals connected to the ruling political elite. She stated that her actions were not motivated by personal grievances against the Fidesz party, but rather by a desire to highlight perceived corruption. Looking forward, she plans to expand from real estate into the gastronomy sector with an Asian-inspired street food concept.
