Şile beaches see high crowds despite summer swimming bans

Thousands of people flocked to the beaches of Şile to escape rising temperatures in Istanbul, leading to vehicle queues along the coastline and crowded sandy shores. Coast Guard and lifeguard teams have issued warnings to swimmers regarding safety.

Local beach operators noted that the season has faced challenges due to weather conditions. Approximately 14 days of swimming bans were implemented during July and August because of strong winds and heavy waves. While crowds are currently high, operators expect even greater numbers on Sundays, primarily consisting of day-trippers from surrounding districts such as Çekmeköy, Sancaktepe, and Sultanbeyli.

Service packages at some beaches, including sunbeds, umbrellas, showers, and changing cabins, are priced at 500 TL per person. Operators mentioned that while the season started with high expectations, meteorological issues have impacted business. However, they noted that September often provides better conditions, with warmer, cleaner, and calmer waters.
