Şile building features road passing directly over its roof

An unusual two-story residential building in the Şile district of Istanbul has gained social media attention due to a road passing directly over it. The building, located in the Çavuş neighborhood, contains eight apartments and is integrated with approximately 50 meters of Plajyolu Sokağı.

Residents of the building expressed varying perspectives on the arrangement. Some describe it as a road passing over their homes, while others maintain that the structure sits beneath a sidewalk. Residents noted that the road was constructed after the building was already completed to provide access to the coast.

Long-term residents stated they are satisfied with the living conditions. Mustafa Çekici, who has lived there for 30 years, mentioned that the lower property value was a primary reason for the purchase and noted that the building remains stable despite passing vehicles. Züleyha Temiz, a resident since 2005, added that the use of suspended ceilings prevents noise from the traffic above.
