Şile Municipality corruption trial adjourned to October 26

The second hearing of the corruption and bribery trial involving 53 defendants related to the Şile Municipality has been adjourned to October 26. The investigation, conducted by the Istanbul Anadolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, includes charges of establishing a criminal organization, extortion, bribery, and bid-rigging.

Şile Mayor Özgür Kabadayı, identified in the indictment as the alleged leader of the criminal organization, faces potential prison sentences ranging from 33 years and 3 months to 92 years. The charges against him include extortion, forgery of official documents, fraud, and bribery.

The hearing, held at the Anadolu 27th High Criminal Court, required a conference hall due to the high volume of participants. During the proceedings, an arrest warrant was issued for defendant Serbülend Danış after failing to appear without an excuse, though the individual eventually arrived to request time for a defense.
