Ilfov County launches mosquito control campaign

The Ilfov County Council, through its Directorate of Disinsectization and Ecological Environment, is conducting terrestrial treatments to combat adult mosquito populations across Ilfov County. The campaign includes specific interventions in Pantelimon scheduled between September 7 and September 15, 2026.

Treatments will take place nightly between 22:00 and 05:00 in public spaces and green areas. The insecticide used is STING, which contains active substances such as permetrin, piperonyl butoxide, and prallethrin.

Authorities have issued several safety recommendations for residents, including keeping windows closed, avoiding areas where spraying is occurring, and ensuring food is covered or packaged during the treatment hours. Additionally, a warning has been issued to beekeepers and those working with aquatic life, as the product is toxic to bees, fish, and other aquatic organisms.
