Ilhan Omar denies immigration fraud investigation allegations

U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has denied allegations that she is under criminal investigation regarding immigration fraud. The controversy stems from claims by officials, including Border Czar Tom Homan and Homeland Security Secretary Mullin, regarding Omar’s past marriage to Ahmed Elmi, who has been rumored to be her brother.

While Omar dismissed the claims as “disgusting” and called Homan a liar, federal officials have indicated that an investigation is ongoing. Legal experts suggest that while a sham marriage alone might not lead to the deportation of a U.S. citizen, the investigation may instead focus on whether Omar or her father provided false information on immigration applications to secure citizenship. If evidence of such misrepresentation is found, the Trump administration could initiate denaturalization proceedings to strip her of her citizenship.
