Ilhéus City Hall launches leprosy prevention initiative

The Ilhéus City Hall, through its Municipal Health Secretariat, conducted the ‘Espelho Meu’ Project in the Banco da Vitória neighborhood from September 28 to 30. The initiative focused on leprosy prevention through community dialogue, information sharing, and direct care.

Led by the Municipal Reference Program for Leprosy and Tuberculosis, the activity involved health professionals, students, and residents. The project aims to increase visibility for the disease, helping the population recognize symptoms and seek early diagnosis to prevent disabilities. During the event, medical professionals evaluated individuals with suspicious skin patches or changes in sensitivity.
