Ilhéus Festival and Mozambique Exhibit Highlight Waste Recycling

The Festival of Innovation in Ilhéus, Brazil, dedicated a day to circular economy, installing a public recycling station and the city’s first ecopoint. The event showcased the Pró‑Catadores project, which supports local cooperatives, provides training, and aims to increase income for waste pickers while improving solid‑waste management.

In Mozambique, a photographic exhibition by Celso Macassa and Félix Matsinhe turned collected litter into artworks that depict pollinators and wildlife. The show stresses the environmental hazards of improper waste disposal and promotes creative reuse as a means to generate income and raise awareness about solid‑waste challenges in the country.
