Ilhéus hosts international triathlon competition

Ilhéus is hosting the 2026 Triathlon Cup International on September 5 and 6. The competition features athletes from more than 15 countries participating in swimming, cycling, and running events.

The schedule includes Age Group categories on Saturday, featuring Super Sprint Festival, Standard, and Aquabike disciplines. Sunday will host the Elite categories, with a total prize pool of US$ 10,000 for high-performance athletes.

The course utilizes local landmarks, including swimming at Praia do Cristo, cycling across the Jorge Amado Bridge, and running along Avenida Dois de Julho. Organized by Triathlon Bahia with support from the Ilhéus City Hall, the event is expected to impact local tourism, hospitality, and services.
