Ilia: Autopsy reveals shotgun pellets in deceased stray dog

A veterinary autopsy has provided new details regarding the death of a stray dog found injured in the Andravida-Kyllini area of Ilia. While X-rays confirmed the presence of shotgun pellets near the eyes, nose, jaw, and shoulder, the veterinarian, Alexandros Papanikolaou, noted that these pellets were not found at the site of the fatal jaw fracture.

The autopsy revealed a fractured lower jaw and a slight displacement of cervical vertebrae. Due to the absence of recent bruising on the head or shoulder and the lack of pellets at the fracture site, the veterinarian suggests the fatal injury may have been caused by an external impact, such as a traffic accident. The presence of pellets confirms the animal had been shot, but findings suggest this may have been a prior incident rather than the immediate cause of death. The results have been forwarded to the Andravida-Kyllini Police Department.
