Ilia Topuria draws criticism and advice after UFC lightweight title defeat

Former two‑division champion Jon Jones commented on Ilia Topuria’s recent loss of the UFC lightweight title to Justin Gaethje, saying the Georgian must be honest with himself and work on weaknesses, adding “Honesty with yourself is the key, and knowing exactly who you are, what you’ve done and what you haven’t done.” Jones also offered technical advice to fellow recent loser Khamzat Chimaev, urging him to become comfortable on his back and improve his grappling.

UFC lightweight contender Paddy Pimblett publicly mocked Topuria, calling him a “fat featherweight” and suggesting the loss proves he is fighting in the wrong weight class. Pimblett said, “Ilia Topuria is a fat featherweight. He’s not a lightweight,” and warned that a future matchup would force Topuria to move back down to featherweight.
