Iliana Jotova commemorates Dobrudja's history and the Craiova Agreement

Bulgarian President Iliana Jotova issued a congratulatory message to the residents of Dobrich and the city's mayor to mark the 110th anniversary of the Dobrudja epic and the 86th anniversary of the signing of the Craiova Agreement on September 7.

Jotova described the history of Dobrudja as a vital part of Bulgarian national identity and collective memory. She noted that the region's path to freedom was long and difficult, involving significant historical injustices before South Dobrudja and Dobrich officially returned to Bulgaria on September 7, 1940.

The President emphasized that the Craiova Agreement healed a deep wound in the Bulgarian spirit and helped foster lasting friendship between the Bulgarian and Romanian peoples. She linked the dates of September 6, 1885, and September 7, 1940, as symbols of Bulgarian national unity and prosperity.
