Ilie Bolojan booed during Navy Day celebrations in Constanța
During Navy Day celebrations in Constanța, interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan was met with booing and whistling from the crowd as he began his speech. Spectators shouted slogans such as “Go to Bucharest” and “Applaud the sailors, Bolojan, go home.”
Despite the reaction, Bolojan continued his address, emphasizing the importance of the Romanian Navy in ensuring security at the eastern border and safe navigation in the Black Sea. He expressed gratitude to the naval forces, their families, and port workers for maintaining national security.
Bucharest Mayor Ciprian Ciucu defended Bolojan, stating that the Prime Minister was aware of the potential hostility due to recent political campaigns against him. Ciucu criticized the protesters, calling their behavior a “shame” and noting that Bolojan attended the symbolic event to represent the Romanian state despite the risks.
