Ilie Năstase under investigation following domestic dispute

Former tennis player Ilie Năstase is under police investigation following a reported verbal conflict with his wife, Ioana Simion. The incident was reported to the Năvodari Police on September 6, 2026, around 8:40 PM.

According to the Constanța County Police Inspectorate, the complainant alleged that her husband had directed insults and threats toward her. Based on a risk assessment indicating an imminent danger to her physical integrity or freedom, police initially issued a provisional protection order. The wife also requested electronic monitoring via an ankle bracelet.

However, the prosecutor in charge has since overturned the provisional protection order. Despite this, a criminal case has been opened, and police investigations are ongoing to establish the facts and circumstances surrounding the event.
