Iligan City Jail inmates undergo vocational and digital skills training

Inmates at the Iligan City Jail are participating in various vocational and digital literacy programs designed to aid their reintegration into society.

Through the ‘Tech Behind Bars’ initiative—a collaboration between the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)—fifteen individuals at the male dormitory completed word processing training. Facilitated by the MSU-IIT College of Computer Studies, the program aims to provide essential digital competencies for future employment and education.

Simultaneously, the Cooperative Development and Livelihood Office (CDLO) conducted a two-day massage training session for 70 individuals at the Iligan City Jail female dormitory. Participants received instruction on basic massage techniques and were provided with massage kits to continue practicing their new skills, which officials hope will serve as a source of livelihood following their release.
