Žilina police officer injured during public order intervention
A police officer was injured during an intervention in Žilina on Friday, August 14, after responding to a report of domestic violence. The incident began when a woman contacted emergency services expressing fear for her life following an attack by her partner.
As officers attempted to calm the man and prevent further illegal activity, a crowd gathered and attempted to obstruct the police. The situation escalated into a conflict, forcing officers to use coercive measures to maintain public order. During the ensuing struggle, one officer was injured by a participant and was subsequently transported to a hospital for treatment.
The Regional Police Directorate in Žilina has launched an investigation into several related offenses. Additionally, the Director of the Regional Police Directorate has ordered an internal review to objectively examine the conduct and procedures used by the officers during the intervention.
