Žilina Region police conduct railway and traffic safety inspections

Police in the Žilina Region of Slovakia conducted extensive safety inspections targeting both road traffic and railway operations. During a specialized operation focused on the railway sector, officers performed 43 breathalyzer tests on employees of railway companies, including Železnice Slovenskej republiky and various passenger and freight transport providers. All 43 tests returned negative results. Authorities plan to continue these railway sobriety checks on a monthly basis to ensure transport safety.

In a separate nationwide traffic control operation, regional police identified 199 traffic violations, including 126 instances of speeding. Out of 896 drivers tested for alcohol, five results were positive, involving three motorists and two cyclists. The inspections come amid concerns over rising traffic accidents in the region, which have resulted in 1,002 accidents, 19 deaths, and 69 serious injuries since the beginning of the year.
