Žilina school director resigns following fraud allegations

Mário Marčan, the director of a primary school in Žilina, has resigned from his position as an assistant to National Council MP Peter Slysko. The resignation follows allegations involving a parental contribution for children not admitted to a local nursery school.

Marčan faces charges related to attempted subsidy fraud and abuse of power by a public official, involving an amount of 5,278.30 euros. While Marčan denies the allegations and maintains his innocence, he stated that his resignation is intended to ensure political correctness and prevent his name from being linked to the MP amidst media pressure.

Marčan is also a candidate for the Žilina Self-Governing Region and has been active in the HLAS – social democracy party structures.
