Ilir Čapuni proposes compensation law for former Solana workers
Montenegrin MP Ilir Čapuni, representing the Force party and the Albanian Alliance coalition, has submitted a legislative proposal to the Parliament to compensate former workers of the Solana ‘Bajo Sekulić’ saltworks.
The proposed law seeks to allocate 950,000 euros from the state budget to settle outstanding labor claims. The payments would be distributed in 24 monthly installments. Čapuni noted that the model for this compensation is based on a previously adopted solution for former workers of the Podgorica Aluminum Combine (KAP).
According to Čapuni, resolving these long-standing debts is essential for concluding a two-decade-long bankruptcy process and facilitating the operation of a newly formed entity to manage the Solana Nature Park. He emphasized that the move aligns with Montenegro’s European integration goals, specifically regarding Chapter 27 on environment and climate change.
