Ilirska Bistrica youth seek better housing and jobs
Young residents of Ilirska Bistrica report a high sense of safety and connection to nature, but express a need for improved infrastructure, housing, and employment opportunities. According to results from a municipal survey involving approximately 15 percent of the local youth population aged 15 to 29, the community is viewed as a peaceful and pleasant place to live.
The municipality is using these survey results as a foundation for upcoming consultations with young people. This process is intended to inform the development of a new youth strategy, a key campaign promise from the current administration led by Mayor Gregor Kovačič and the Gremo list. While the municipality has begun working on this document with support from the MOVIT institute, critics have noted that the formalization of the strategy is occurring late in the current mandate.
