Iliyan Filippov urges patience and support for Botev Plovdiv

Iliyan Filippov, the financial benefactor of Bulgarian club Botev Plovdiv, posted on Facebook after the team’s first three league matches. He highlighted the club’s leading statistics on the global football‑analysis platform: 58 shots – the most in the First League, 82 successful one‑on‑one dribbles – also the highest, and a second‑place ranking in expected goals, just 0.44 xG behind rivals Levski.

Filippov praised the progress, calling for calm, patience and continued fan support rather than rushed judgments. He urged the club’s management to give more chances to young players such as Samuil Tzonov and Veliyan Vidolov, and to allow coach Genchev time to implement his plans. He also noted Samuel Kalu’s lead in the individual dribble ranking with 20 successful attempts.
