Iliyana Yotova pledges to advocate for peace in Ukraine

Bulgarian presidential candidate Iliyana Yotova has pledged to advocate for a ‘Coalition for Peace in Ukraine’ rather than a coalition of those seeking conflict. Speaking to supporters in Varna, Yotova emphasized her commitment to peaceful negotiations and stated that, if elected, no Bulgarian soldiers would be sent to Ukraine.

Yotova also addressed the strategic importance of the Black Sea for European security and global food supplies. She noted that the Black Sea serves as a vital food corridor for Asia and Africa, warning that disruptions to safe shipping could exacerbate hunger in Africa and increase migration flows toward Europe. To mitigate these risks, she called on Black Sea nations to sign a memorandum ensuring safe navigation in the region.

Additionally, Yotova highlighted the potential for Varna to host significant European infrastructure, energy, and digital projects. Alongside Kiril Valchev, she expressed a commitment to restoring public trust in state institutions and strengthening the connection between the government and its citizens.
