Ilka Aleksandrova to celebrate 50-year career at Plovdiv Ancient Theatre

Folk singer Ilka Aleksandrova will celebrate her 50-year career with a jubilee concert-spectacle titled ‘Tarnovska Tsaritsa i taynata pesen’ (The Tarnov Queen and the Secret Song) at the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv on September 20, 2026.

The event will feature a live performance without playback by Aleksandrova and the ‘Ilka Aleksandrova and the Soloists of Thrace’ band. The program includes a retrospective of her hits, such as ‘Tarnovska Tsaritsa’ and ‘Dzhanyam Todor, kazi Todorke’, alongside the premiere of a new original album and a specially prepared ‘secret song’.

The concert will showcase musical traditions from four different folklore regions, featuring guest performers Volodya Stoyanov (Pirinsko Macedonia), Dicho Dichev (Stranja), Nikolina Savova (Thrace), and Kostadin Kisyov (Rodopi). The production includes choreography by Mario Postalov with the PostArt Dance Ensemble and the Plovdiv Dance Theatre.
