Illawarra Hawks defeat Adelaide 36ers to secure first NBL27 win
The Illawarra Hawks secured their first win of the NBL27 season with a 114-92 victory over the Adelaide 36ers at the WIN Entertainment Centre. After starting the season with three consecutive road losses, the Hawks dominated the matchup, leading by as much as 32 points. Kelan Martin led the scoring with 28 points, supported by Sam Froling's 19 points and 13 rebounds.
The victory comes amid a period of roster challenges for the Hawks, who are currently playing without Todd Blanchfield, Mason Peatling, and Makur Maker due to injuries.
Johny Narkle, a sophomore player in his NBL season, has emerged as a key contributor during this stretch. After previously pursuing Australian rules football, the 25-year-old has earned increased trust from the coaching staff and has provided much-needed depth off the bench, recently recording a career-high 15 points in a single game.
