Illawarra Hawks near roster completion as Australian forward Lachlan Olbrich eyes NBA future

The Illawarra Hawks are close to finalising their 2026‑27 NBL roster after signing players such as Tyler Harvey, Sam Froling, Todd Blanchfield and others. Vice‑chairman Terry Egger said a clear picture of the squad will emerge within ten days, ahead of the season opener on September 20 against the New Zealand Breakers at Spark Arena.

Former Hawks champion Lachlan Olbrich, who spent a rookie season with the Chicago Bulls, impressed in the NBA Summer League with the Golden State Warriors, recording 21 points on perfect shooting against Miami. He is now pursuing a contract with the Warriors or their G‑League affiliate to extend his NBA tenure, noting the importance of proving he “belongs” in the league. Olbrich previously posted a triple‑double as a rookie, joining an exclusive group of Chicago players.
