Illawarra region sees two separate robbery convictions

A Towradgi woman pleaded guilty to a home robbery in which she posed as a sex worker to gain entry to a jeweller's residence in Illawarra. She and co‑accused stole cash, a wallet, keys and a bottle of Gucci perfume before the victim police arrived. Sentencing is pending.

Separately, a 63‑year‑old man from Kiama was convicted of robbing a BP petrol station at gunpoint, taking cash and cigarettes. He received a 15‑month prison term with an eight‑month non‑parole period and was also sentenced for drug possession and trespassing offences.

Both cases were heard in the Wollongong Local Court, highlighting a spate of violent robberies in the Illawarra area.
