Illegal parking issues reported in Cirebon and Jakarta
In Cirebon, residents have raised concerns regarding illegal parking along commercial streets such as Jalan Ciremai Raya, Jalan Perjuangan, and Jalan Moh Toha. The issue is reportedly burdening micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as high parking fees relative to small transaction values discourage consumers from shopping. Local residents have described the situation as an emergency that threatens small business viability, noting a lack of concrete enforcement from the local Transportation Agency.
In Jakarta, the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency conducted enforcement operations in the Gandaria area. Officials impounded several motorcycles that were parked illegally on sidewalks and roadways. The crackdown aims to restore the function of public facilities, specifically ensuring that pedestrian paths remain accessible for walkers, the elderly, and people with disabilities, while also preventing traffic congestion caused by vehicles obstructing the flow of movement.
