Illegal radio station discovered in Yablanovo, Bulgaria
Authorities in the village of Yablanovo, Kotel municipality, have uncovered an illegal radio station during a police operation targeting election-related crimes and conventional criminality. The unauthorized equipment, which was broadcasting on two VHF frequencies, was found installed on economic buildings within two private properties.
According to police reports, the station was reportedly playing music streamed from the internet. While the signal was strong enough to be received in neighboring villages, investigators stated there is currently no evidence that the station was used for electioneering or to influence voters in the region. The equipment has been dismantled on-site.
An investigation is underway, and administrative fines for this violation are expected to range between 30,000 and 300,000 BGN. As part of the broader police intervention in the Sliven region, ten individuals have been arrested and six wanted persons have been identified.
