The Cinemark Seven Bridges IMAX theater in Woodridge, a suburb of Chicago, has been operating around the clock to meet demand for Christopher Nolan's film "La Odisea" in 70 mm format. Six screenings are offered each day, from a 7:45 a.m. start to a 2:40 a.m. finish, and all tickets are sold out through the end of September.
Grace Avila, one of four staff members who introduce the film, said the theater is the only venue in Illinois equipped for 70 mm projection, drawing visitors from other states and turning the screenings into a regional tourist attraction. The 235‑seat auditorium sees more than 1,200 viewers weekly, contributing to the 41 worldwide IMAX 70 mm locations, of which only 22 are in the United States.
