Illinois mother charged with murder of 2-year-old son

Corie Walsh, 40, faces three counts of first-degree murder following the death of her two-year-old son, Barrett Walsh, in Frankfort, an Illinois suburb of Chicago. The child was discovered by his two older siblings on September 1, hanging from a rafter in the family's basement.

During police interrogations, Walsh reportedly exhibited erratic behavior, including launching into a rambling outburst and singing her own version of “Follow the Yellow Brick Road” from “The Wizard of Oz.” Court records indicate Walsh allegedly told investigators she killed her son because she believed he was the “devil” and the “anti-Christ.”

Walsh’s attorney, Andrea Lyon, has described her client as “psychotic.” Investigators are also examining whether Walsh’s reported fixation on the Lindsay Clancy case influenced the incident.
