Illinois officials launch election monitoring and integrity measures

Illinois election officials and the state Attorney General have launched efforts to ensure the security and accessibility of the upcoming election as early in-person and mail-in voting begin.

Attorney General Kwame Raoul announced that teams of investigators and assistant attorneys general are monitoring polling places across the state. This expanded effort includes early voting periods to protect voter rights and ensure accessibility. The Attorney General’s office has established hotlines for citizens to report suspected improper or illegal activity.

Separately, Sangamon County Clerk Don Gray and Illinois State Board of Elections spokesman Matt Dietrich addressed concerns regarding election integrity. They dismissed reports of widespread fraud or hacking vulnerabilities, characterizing such disinformation as a threat to the democratic process. The officials also noted ongoing legal disputes regarding federal attempts to access unredacted voter registration databases, which Illinois has challenged on the grounds of state law and privacy.
