Illinois volleyball teams secure multiple sweeps in weekend tournaments

Illinois collegiate volleyball programs achieved significant success during recent weekend tournaments.

Illinois State Volleyball swept both Marist and Oakland University at the Oakland Invitational in Michigan. The Redbirds secured their seventh sweep of the season, highlighted by strong performances from Oliwia Caputa and Jillian Ferrill, who each recorded 13 kills.

Meanwhile, the University of Illinois Fighting Illini concluded their nonconference schedule with a successful weekend at the Arkansas State Invitational. The team secured consecutive sweeps against Arkansas and Arkansas State. Key contributors included Alyssa Aguayo, who led with 13 kills against Arkansas, and Paityn Chapman, who recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 12 digs against Arkansas State. The Illini (8-3) will now begin Big Ten play, starting with a home match against Minnesota.
