Illio Onofre Constanza De León, a 22‑year‑old from Santo Domingo, died on Thursday afternoon after leaping from the Duarte (Juan Bosch) Bridge. He had been studying to become a pilot, spoke four languages and worked at a call‑center while preparing for an aviation career.

Family members described him as quiet, educated and dedicated, noting that he had recently experienced emotional distress following a breakup, which may have contributed to a depressive state. They called for greater attention to mental‑health support and asked for privacy, urging the public to avoid sharing images or videos of the tragedy. Emergency responders—including police, firefighters, and the Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Forenses—arrived at the scene, retrieved his body, and confirmed his death.
