Ilo and Tacna ports closed due to anomalous waves

The Port Authority of Ilo has ordered the temporary closure of various ports, docks, and terminals in the Ilo and Tacna regions due to unfavorable ocean-meteorological conditions and anomalous waves. The closure, effective from 00:00 hours on Monday, August 10, 2026, affects several key locations including the Ilo Artisanal Fishing Landing, Ilo Fiscal Pier, Morro Sama, Vila Vila, and Punta Picata Cove.

Major port terminals such as SPCC, ENAPU, and ENGIE are also included in the restriction. The measure suspends fishing activities, port operations, tourism, recreational boating, aquaculture, and offshore navigation. Additionally, underwater work is prohibited in Ilo Bay and the coves of Morro Sama and Vila Vila.

Limited exceptions are permitted for the boarding and disembarking of essential personnel and specific docking maneuvers, provided they are coordinated with the National Port Authority and undergo individual terminal evaluations. Authorities have advised the public and maritime workers to take preventive measures while adverse conditions persist.
