Iloilo City Allocates PHP25 Million for Solar Power, Extends Energy‑Saving Measures

The Iloilo City government has earmarked PHP25 million to install solar power systems in city offices and evacuation centres, a move announced by Mayor Raisa Treñas at the Huawei Digital Power Iloilo Summit 2026. The funding aims to keep public services operating during disasters and energy crises while promoting clean‑energy investment.

The city will also continue its energy‑conservation program, which has saved about PHP200,000 a month since March. Under Executive Order No. 030, measures include a four‑day workweek, regulated air‑conditioning use, reduced electricity consumption during lunch breaks, virtual meetings and optimized vehicle use. Homeowners are encouraged to install solar panels with a 20% real‑property‑tax discount, and the city council is reviewing the 2009 ordinance to simplify applications for renewable‑energy incentives.
