Ilok becomes international center for wine and rural tourism
The city of Ilok has emerged as an international center for wine and rural tourism following a major conference titled ‘European wine circle as a driver of tourism development’. The event brought together representatives from 16 countries, including tourism experts, viticulturists, winemakers, and officials from European institutions and development agencies.
Part of the General Assembly of the Iter Vitis European cultural route, the four-day meeting focused on developing sustainable wine tourism and connecting European wine regions to foster economic growth in rural areas. The conference is part of the implementation of the Annual Action Plan of the National Network of the Common Agricultural Policy and is co-financed by the European Union and the Croatian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. Additionally, it is supported by the Sunflower Network platform, which aims to promote creativity, sustainability, and digitalization in rural tourism.
