Ilok to host international wine tourism and Iter Vitis assembly

The town of Ilok is set to host the international conference ‘European Wine Circle as a Driver of Tourism Development’ and the general assembly of the Iter Vitis cultural route from October 8 to 11, 2026. The event will focus on sustainable viticulture, wine roads, digital tools, and European networking to foster wine and rural tourism development.

Key discussion topics include the role of European cultural routes in connecting wine destinations, the impact of climate change on sustainable viticulture, and the role of women and youth in transforming rural wine tourism. The program aims to facilitate knowledge transfer and share best practices among international and domestic stakeholders.

In a related regional development effort, a conference in Vukovar-Srijem County is exploring the potential of apiturism—combining beekeeping with tourism. Experts, including representatives from the Croatian Apitherapy Society, discussed integrating honey and bee products into local gastronomy, wellness services, and marketing to establish the region as a specialized honey destination.
